‘I Wish My Body…’ Selena Gomez Shares Her Journey Towards Body Positivity

Selena Gomez, a singer and actor, has had a “Rare” impact on her fans, following, and the world via her journey. While she is still a singing sensation, she makes it a point to promote both physical and mental health positivity wherever she goes.

She spoke candidly about being made fun of for her appearance after her lupus surgery in a recent interview. She recalled believing she no longer “had a teenager’s body” when she was 24 and attending a magazine fitting, which made her feel self-conscious.
The singer, who is now 31 years old, claimed that “none of the sample sizes were fitting, and that would make me feel embarrassed.” Though how unreasonable is it to anticipate that a typical woman’s physique won’t alter? she questioned.

After receiving a Lupus diagnosis in 2014, the singer underwent chemotherapy and a kidney transplant. People began tormenting her on social media a few months later when she was pictured while on holiday in Australia wearing a bikini and showing the scars from her operation. Additionally, the pop sensation was still grieving over her breakup with singer Justin Bieber at that time.
She said, “I didn’t need to see what everyone was doing; I had just had my heart broken.” With all the anguish she was already feeling, her battle with her body image became overwhelming.

Then there were other times when I didn’t feel good about my appearance due to what I saw on Instagram. The Disney actress said, “Wow, I wish my body looked like that. Selena previously acknowledged that a social media detox had made her feel less anxious, and she also said that in 2017 she had given her assistant her social media passwords. But a year later, when the ‘Rare’ singer experienced psychosis, had to enter into a treatment facility and was identified with bipolar disorder, things took a bad turn for her.

She remembered, “I went through a pretty difficult season. “I couldn’t manage it since it was my highs and lows, and I didn’t know what to do. I would like to postpone events. Simply put, it was a tortured feeling.
“For this reason, when I received my diagnosis, all I could think was, “Oh, okay, I feel a little relaxed, I understand a little more. I sought further opinions. I visited the doctor. I’m blessed to have folks who can support me every day, the woman continued.

Selena has since been quite transparent in sharing her experience with others in an effort to support those going through similar difficulties.
She established the Rare Impact Fund to address the pressing challenges of self-acceptance and mental health. To be able to assist those in need, it hopes to raise $100 million over the following ten years.
In addition, she published a documentary titled “My Mind & Me” in which she discussed her own struggles with mental illness.
