Fighter banned in Gulf countries
In a setback for enthusiasts in Gulf countries, the much-anticipated film “Fighter,” starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, has been denied release across all Middle East regions except the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to film business expert and producer Girish Johar. The reason behind the ban remains undisclosed.
Girish Johar shared the news on Twitter, stating, “In a setback, #Fighter officially banned across Middle East regions for theatrical release. Only UAE will release the film with PG15 classification!”
Although an official statement from the makers is pending, a source close to the “Fighter” team has confirmed the ban in Gulf countries, leaving only the UAE with the privilege of releasing the film under PG15 classification.
Despite facing hurdles in Gulf markets, the aerial action thriller is set to hit Indian theaters on January 25. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film also features Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi. Produced by Viacom18 Studios in collaboration with Marflix Pictures, “Fighter” is envisioned as a tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of the Indian armed forces.
Siddharth Anand, the director, expressed his dedication to the project, stating, “Mamta (Siddharth’s wife) and I started our film company MARFLIX with #FIGHTER. A film that is ambitious in more ways than one. It’s more than just a film for us. And we have given it all to this one.” Despite the setback, the team remains hopeful that audiences will embrace “Fighter” with the same fervor they showed for “PATHAAN.”
