Hospital Reports Mithun Chakraborty as ‘Quite Stable’, Pending Further Investigations Before Discharge

Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty’s health has shown improvement, with hospital officials describing him as “quite stable,” according to news agency PTI. The 73-year-old actor was hospitalized in Kolkata on Saturday due to severe chest pain, as reported.

Health update of Mithun

According to an official from the medical facility speaking to PTI, Mithun Chakraborty is making good progress in his recovery. He is fully conscious, alert, and participating in activities, including consuming a soft diet. Before his discharge, he will undergo further investigations, including an MRI and additional medical tests conducted during his hospital stay.

Mithun’s video from hospital

On Sunday, a video of the actor Mithun Chakraborty in the hospital was shared by news agency ANI. In the footage, Mithun could be seen sitting on his hospital bed while a doctor conversed with him in Hindi, reassuring him about his condition and the ongoing treatment. Mithun responded and gestured towards his feet during the conversation. Additionally, West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar paid a visit to Mithun on the same day.

Mithun had Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke)

In a recent official statement, the hospital confirmed that Mithun Chakraborty has been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) of the brain. The statement detailed that the actor was admitted to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, at approximately 9:40 am, citing weakness in his right upper and lower limbs as the presenting complaint.

Following his admission, Mithun underwent necessary laboratory and radiology investigations, including an MRI of the brain, leading to the diagnosis of the Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident. However, the statement reassured that the actor remains fully conscious, well-oriented, and has been consuming a soft diet. Currently, he is under the care of a multidisciplinary team of doctors, including a neuro-physician, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist, for further evaluation and management.

Furthermore, Mithun made headlines when he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground on March 7, 2021.
