Indian actor Ranveer Singh has said that I have been an entertainer since childhood and the audience is my motivator. I spread happiness to people in a world full of sorrow through my films. The third Red Sea International Film Festival held in Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia started with Ranveer Singh’s dialogue. Ranbir Singh was honored by Hollywood’s famous actress Sharon Stone and festival head Mohammed Al Turki at the opening ceremony. Sharon Stone, while reading the written statement about him, said that he is an all-rounder artist who has done new experiments in cinema with his acting.
He said that my wife Deepika Padukone is my mentor. She is a bigger artist than me but she does not bring her stardom into the house. Even today I learn the art of acting from her. I am lucky to have a wife like Deepika.
He said that life is a journey and there are always ups and downs in it. It doesn’t matter whether a film is a hit or a flop. For instance, when Manish Sharma’s film ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ (2010) was released and became a hit, I became a star overnight. My world had changed in 72 hours. I started feeling that no one knew more about acting than me. But my illusions were soon shattered when I met my senior actors. I realized I don’t know anything yet.
He said that he got a lot of name and fame but he still remembers the happiness he got by playing the role of Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s ’83’. In the first year of this Red Sea International Film Festival, this film was the closing film of the festival and I can never forget the joy I felt while walking the red carpet with Kapil Dev. This is the only film which I have seen many times and watched again and again. He said that thanks to Kabir Khan for casting me in the role of Kapil Dev.
He said that the years 2000 and 2010 have been the turning points in Hindi cinema. The definition of hero and actor was changing. Now a single actor had to do everything – romance, action, comedy – tragedy. This was a new challenge for us in cinema that we had to face. Hindi cinema now needed a complete actor. However, before me, Govinda, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgan had started it. When I was growing up, Amitabh Bachchan and later Shahrukh Khan were my idols. I still learn from him today. Even after doing so many successful films, when I look at my senior actors, I feel that I have not done anything special. I am still a student of cinema. I feel that acting is a search within oneself – self-exploration. When I look at my old films after years, I don’t recognize myself. I think this is my victory. Be it ‘Lootera’ or ‘Ramlila’, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ or ‘Gully Bye’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ or ‘Padmavat’ or Rohit Shetty’s ‘Simmba’. ,
He said that Simba is coming back. I have just returned from shooting for Rohit Shetty’s film ‘Singham 3’. The fun of improvising dialogues while shooting with Ajay Devgan and Rohit Shetty is something else. Rohit Shetty is a different kind of director.
When asked about the role of Raaki Randhawa in Karan Johar’s film ‘Raaki Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, Ranbir said that people loved this character a lot. The challenge of such characters is that one should act exactly as the director has written on paper and as has been thought in the mind. He said that in the second week of the film’s release, I went to a theater in Mumbai to watch the 11 pm show. I sat quietly in a dark corner with the audience. I was amazed to see the audience’s reactions to every important scene of the film. On the seat next to me, a young girl was watching a movie with her mother. I saw that she was crying on many scenes, both mother and daughter were wiping each other’s tears and consoling each other by holding hands. This is the strength of our Indian cinema. This special feeling connects us to each other.
Talking about his directors, he said that he is most thankful to Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It was during his film ‘Ramleela’ that he met Deepika Padukone for the first time and later fell in love and married. He said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali first of all made him blank and formless, emptied whatever was already inside me and I became like a blank slate, like wet clay. Then he created characters in me. He expanded my creativity into the infinite sky of acting.
He said that most of the people in our world are sad and troubled. My job as an artist is to take them from sadness to laughter. It is my job to make them happy by showing them my art. If you lighten the burden on people’s hearts, you will earn blessings. I’m doing it right here.
