‘Highly Ridiculous, Disgusting!’ Ex-Cricketer SLAMS Salman Khan’s Attire In Song Yentamma

Former India cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has slammed the attire of Bollywood’s Bhaijaan, Salman Khan in a new song from the upcoming movie ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.’ The latest track, Yentamma, begins with Khan’s dancing to his own rhythm as he is joined by co-star and veteran actor Venkatesh Daggubati. In the new song, Salman Khan and South actor Venkatesh twinning in bright yellow shirts, mundu and sunglasses. However, the cricketer-turned-cricket commentator takes a swipe at Salman o call out the makers of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan for ” highly ridiculous and degrading our South Indian culture” in the recently released song.

Taking to Twitter, Sivaramakrishnan wrote: “This is highly ridiculous and degrading our South Indian culture. This is not a LUNGI, THIS IS A DHOTI. A classical outfit which is being shown in a DISGUSTING MANNER.”

While urging the CBFC (Central Board Of Film Certification) to take action against the filmmakers, the former cricketer in another tweet, “Nowadays people do anything for money. Won’t they research what is a Lungi and a Dhoti. Even if it’s a set, it’s being projected as a temple. People associated with the movie should realise, no footwear inside the temple premises. Appealing to@CBFC_India to consider to BAN this.”

Moreover, he later posted separate tweets, to underline the difference between a ‘dhoti’ and a ‘lungi.’

Netizen reaction over Laxman Sivaramakrishnan’s stance

After Sivaramakrishnan slammed the superstar and called out the makers of the movie, several netizens agreed to his call.

One of the netizens questioned, “Even people who steer away from controversies are slamming Bollywood. Will Bollywood ever learn?”

Another wrote, “Well Saïd sir, this is disgusting and it’s completely disrespecting and degrading our culture!”

In the comment section, one wrote, “A comment read, “It is not only about Lungi or South Indian culture as a matter of fact, but Bollywood has also always shown any Indian culture in bad light or aesthetically very crude.”

‘Yentamma’

Salman Khan’s latest track, ‘Yentamma’ has been sung by Vishal Dadlani and Payal Dev with an additional rap portion penned and sung by Raftaar. The song has been written by Shabbir Ahmed and composed by Payal Dev.

This song was released on April 9, Sunday.

Bollywood Bhaijaan is once again gearing up for his big Eid release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Along with him, the film stars Venkatesh, Pooja Hegde and Jagapathi Babu with an ensemble supporting cast.
