Diljit Dosanjh Channels Punjabi Royalty In Regal MET Gala 2025 Debut

Punjabi icon Diljit Dosanjh made a grand entrance at the 2025 MET Gala, stunning fashion enthusiasts with a regal look that paid tribute to his roots.

Making his debut at the world’s most prestigious fashion event, Dosanjh embodied the spirit of a modern-day Maharaja — a seamless blend of culture, craftsmanship, and charisma.

A Royal Tribute To Punjabi Heritage

Staying true to his identity, Dosanjh wore a custom creation by renowned designer Prabal Gurung.

The ivory-hued ensemble featured a jewelled turban, a statement neckpiece, and a sheathed sword all symbolic elements of Punjabi nobility.

Draped over his shoulders, a dramatic cape emblazoned with Punjabi script added a powerful cultural flourish.

The look resonated deeply with the evening’s theme, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, which celebrates historical expressions of identity, defiance, and elegance through menswear.

Social Media Buzz And Fan Adoration

Diljit shared a video on Instagram capturing his departure for the gala. In the background, fans could be heard shouting his signature phrase: Punjabi aagaye oye! — a phrase now synonymous with the singer-actor’s charismatic public persona.

The clip quickly went viral, with fans and fellow celebrities praising his commitment to cultural storytelling through fashion.

Karan Johar’s Royal Seal Of Approval

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who also attended the event, took to social media to applaud Dosanjh’s style.

He posted: “Fashion Royalty!! Always on point!! A forever fashionista!” — solidifying Diljit’s status as a global style icon.

From Coachella To The MET

This milestone marks yet another global fashion platform conquered by Dosanjh. He previously made headlines with his appearances at Coachella and Paris Fashion Week.

With each outing, he continues to redefine representation and bring Punjabi culture to the international stage.

A Historic Year For Menswear At The MET

The 2025 MET Gala theme, inspired by Monica L Miller’s book ‘Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity’, places menswear at the forefront for the first time.

Co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Vogue’s Anna Wintour, this year’s event honours the craftsmanship and cultural power of tailored male fashion.

Athletes such as Simone Biles and Angel Reese, along with musical icons including Doechii and Usher, served on the host committee. Their presence rounded out a diverse and vibrant celebration of identity and style.
