Christopher Nolan, one of the most renowned film directors in history, is back with Oppenheimer. The movie is a biography of theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who was instrumental in the creation of the world’s first nuclear weapons. The movie, which has been rated U/A by the central board of film certification, is getting ready for its July 21 cinema debut. The movie has an R-rating internationally, but India does not because of its self-censorship of the nudity. Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Robert Downey Jr., runs 3 hours and 2 minutes (182 minutes) in India as opposed to 3 hours and 10 minutes everywhere else.
The movie is all set to release on 1250 screens in India. However, the number is only on an increase and it is being anticipated that the final count can reach upto 1500 screens. The national chains in urban areas have announced round-the-clock showcasing for Oppenheimer due to the extraordinary demand in advance bookings, and the tickets are flying off the shelves.
Oppenheimer has been the topic of conversation ever since the advances began two weeks ago. Approximately 1,50,000 tickets had been sold as of Wednesday night in the three national chains of PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis, and Oppenheimer is on track to close out 2,00,000 tickets in India. The movie turned out to be one of the biggest surprises of the year, and Christopher Nolan’s reputation played a huge part in that. On the first day alone, the movie’s ticket sales in the three chains totaled Rs. 5.20 crore. The Christopher Nolan-directed film has sold over 3.25 lakh tickets over the course of the weekend, for a total advance of almost Rs 12 crore net.

The film is being released on a small number of screens, which suggests an opening in the region of Rs 12 to 15 crore nett, despite the advances indicating a start in the North of Rs 20 crore in India. Aside from the limited release, a movie like Oppenheimer will always have high advancements and low places since Christopher Nolan’s cult following drives the sales. Nevertheless, considering the topic and distribution size, the movie is positioned for a strong opening.
The booking is evenly dispersed throughout the weekend, which suggests that a successful opening weekend is anticipated for this epic set during the Second World War. This is also good news. By surpassing Nolan’s previous peak, Dark Knight Rises (Rs 55 crore), the movie is on track to become the most successful in India.
