Bobby Deol Shares How Prakash Jha Supported His Special Request During ‘Aashram’ Shoot

Actor Bobby Deol, who is gearing up for the release of the second part of the third season of his popular streaming show Aashram, has opened up about his unique experience working with the show’s creator and director, Prakash Jha. Bobby revealed how Jha went above and beyond to accommodate his special request during the filming process.

A Strong Commitment To Physicality

Bobby Deol, known for his commanding presence in negative roles, explained the effort it takes to get into character, especially when physicality plays a crucial role. Ahead of the second part’s release, Bobby shared his personal experience with IANS, emphasizing the importance of staying in top physical condition to portray his role effectively.

One key factor in this, according to Bobby, was the availability of a good gym. “I asked Prakash ji for only one thing: a good gym,” he revealed. The first season’s shoot took place in Ayodhya, where Bobby was delighted to find a gym ready and waiting for him. He would visit early in the morning, usually around 5:00 or 5:30 am.

Prakash Jha’s Unwavering Dedication

Bobby further shared his admiration for Prakash Jha’s relentless work ethic. “Prakash ji, hats off to him. He is the producer, director, writer, everything on this show, but his energy levels are insane,” Bobby said. According to the actor, Jha was also a frequent early riser, often seen leaving the gym by 7:00 am before heading to the set for shooting.

Despite his grueling schedule, Jha’s dedication didn’t stop there. “In the evening, he used to come back and go through the scenes. Madhavi, his right-hand assistant, would inform me about any changes. Even then, I learned that Prakash ji was still working,” Bobby shared, highlighting the director’s commitment to ensuring the show’s success.

Adapting To Jha’s Unique Working Style

Bobby also noted how Jha’s approach to directing was quite different from his own. On the first day of filming, Prakash Jha made some changes to the lines, which was a departure from Bobby’s usual experience on set. However, Bobby quickly adapted to Jha’s method, saying, “Slowly, I got used to it. The meaning and words were almost the same, but the lines would shift, and I’d have to adjust.”

Bobby recalled one instance where he had to change outfits and perform the same scene again. “He made me say my dialogue again, and I felt so happy,” Bobby added, showing how much he appreciated Jha’s attention to detail.

Gratitude For The Opportunity

For Bobby, working with Prakash Jha has been an enriching experience. “He cares about his actors and doesn’t just want them to be satisfied with their performances. It was really amazing that I got this chance to work with him,” Bobby concluded.

Aashram continues to stream on Amazon MX Player, where viewers can watch Bobby’s intense performance in the latest season of the show.
