Aparshakti Khurana Makes Tamil Debut With ROOT: Running Out Of Time

Actor Aparshakti Khurana will likely appear in his first Tamil film, ROOT: Running Out Of Time. The project, helmed by director Sooriyaprathap S, introduces him to the Kollywood industry.

Explaining what persuaded him to sign the film, Aparshakti shared, “I saw the rushes of a web series that the film’s director Sooriyaprathap sir had made, and it looked promising. So, I decided to collaborate with him.”

Speaking candidly about the experience, the Stree actor acknowledged that delivering performances in a language unfamiliar to his thought process was demanding.

“It’s difficult to enact in a language that you are not thinking in,” he remarked.

Aparshakti Khurana noted that he would first frame his thoughts in English. He would then mentally translate them before presenting them on camera.

According to him, this additional step altered his instinctive reactions and spontaneous expressions.

“It changes your impromptu behaviour and certain reflexes. Having said that, before hitting the floor, we did enough workshops to understand the language we are entering,” he highlighted.

Aparshakti also addressed the growing openness of Indian audiences towards films from different regions.

He said, “We all stay in India, and when audiences have started accepting all sorts of languages and cinema, why shouldn’t artistes from one world be cast in another? It’s a lot of fun for the actor, writer, director, and audience to see what comes out of it. I’m looking forward to working in different languages.”

He believes that such cross-industry collaborations offer creative satisfaction to performers and filmmakers while giving audiences something fresh.

Describing ROOT as a rewarding creative journey, he mentioned that the film stands apart from the roles he has previously undertaken.

Alongside Aparshakti, the cast includes Gautham Ram Karthik, Narain, Bhavya Trikha, Y Gee Mahendra, Pavni Reddy, Linga, and RJ Anandhi. He further revealed that he is currently considering another Tamil script, indicating his interest in continuing to work across languages.
