Rumours are rife in the Malayalam film industry that Kattalan, directed by Paul George and starring Antony Varghese in the lead, may release on May 28 this year.
Speculation surrounding the release date intensified after an assistant director shared a poster of the film mentioning May 28 as the release date on Instagram.
Actor Anson Paul also reposted the same poster, adding fuel to the reports.
The film’s producers have not yet officially confirmed the release date. Earlier, the makers had announced May 14 as the intended release date.
In February, the production team confirmed that shooting had been completed, though the announcement only mentioned May as the release month without specifying a date.
The makers had earlier surprised fans by announcing the inclusion of ace music composer Ravi Basrur in the project.
The move drew attention because the production house had previously named B Ajaneesh Loknath, known for Kantara 2, as the film’s composer.
Produced by Cubes Entertainment, the film marks the next ambitious venture of producer Shareef Muhammed after the blockbuster Marco.
Apart from Antony Varghese and Rajisha Vijayan, the film also stars Rapper Baby Jean, Telugu actor Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, veteran actors Jagadeesh and Siddique, along with Parth Tiwari, Shon Joy and Anson Paul.
Paul George, Joby Varghese and Jero Jacob wrote the story.
The makers say the film blends gritty storytelling with a high-stakes narrative revolving around power, betrayal and dangerous missions.
