Amitabh Bachchan’s Airplane Encounter: A Lesson In Humility

In a captivating anecdote shared by legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, he recounts a memorable experience from the peak of his illustrious career. While traveling on an airplane, Bachchan found himself seated next to a seemingly ordinary gentleman dressed in a plain shirt and pants. Despite the bustling attention from other passengers who recognized the Bollywood icon, this unassuming man remained engrossed in his book, occasionally gazing out of the window and sipping his tea in silence.

With keen interest by his fellow calm co-passenger, Bachchan attempted to strike up a conversation. The gentleman greeted him with a polite smile and engaged in a brief chat. When Bachchan mentioned his profession, the man responded with polite indifference, revealing that he rarely watched movies and had seen one many years ago.

As the journey concluded and they prepared to disembark, Bachchan introduced himself formally, revealing his name with the expectation of recognition. To his surprise, the gentleman responded with equal warmth, introducing himself as JRD Tata, the esteemed chairman of Tata.

Reflecting on the encounter, Bachchan shared, “That day I learned that no matter how big you think you are, there’s always someone bigger. Be humble; it costs nothing.” This poignant interaction serves as a timeless reminder of the importance of humility, regardless of one’s achievements or status.

Amitabh Bachchan’s story underscores a valuable lesson for all: in our professional and personal journeys, staying grounded and respectful can lead to meaningful connections and unexpected wisdom.
