On social media, a dinner invitation from the ‘President of Bharat’ for the next G20 conference quickly went viral. Amitabh Bachchan, an actor, seemed to respond to it on X.
Actor Amitabh Bachchan appears to have taken a stance amid the clamor for and opposition to India’s renaming as Bharat. Amitabh sent a poignant tweet on Tuesday.
Tweet from Amitabh Amitabh tweeted in Hindi, “Bharat mata ki jai (Hail mother Bharat)”. He also included a red flag and a Tricolour emoji in his post. Within only 30 minutes, the tweet had 7,000 likes. While many people responded to his statement with support, others questioned why he had tweeted in this manner.
Screenshots of a dinner invitation that was being shared on social media in the lead-up to India’s name change created a stir. Instead of the customary “President of India,” the invitation to the G20 dinner on September 9 had the moniker “President of Bharat.” Numerous political figures voiced opposition to the same.
Jairam Ramesh, a leader in the Congress, claimed that Article 1 of the Constitution might read, “Bharat, which was India, shall be a Union of States,” and he accused the administration of undermining the concept of a Union of States. Leaders of the BJP praised the usage of Bharat.

According to BJP MP Harnath Singh Yadav, the entire nation wants the name “Bharat” to be used instead of “India.” “The name ‘India’ is a derogatory term that the British gave us, but the word ‘Bharat’ is a representation of our culture…”I want our Constitution to be changed, and the word “Bharat” should be added to it,” he remarked.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, praised the Republic of India. He posted a tweet saying, “REPUBLIC OF BHARAT – happy and proud that our civilisation is marching ahead boldly towards AMRIT KAAL.”
