Alia Bhatt made a stunning appearance at this year’s Met Gala, donning a breathtaking Sabyasachi floral saree complete with a dramatic pallu-train. Unlike last year, Alia’s presence at the event was not confirmed, adding an element of surprise to her arrival, which delighted fans worldwide. The Internet was doubly thrilled by her attendance and captivated by her choice of attire.
The sight of a saree on the international red carpet never fails to impress, and Alia Bhatt’s outfit was no exception. Posts across social media platforms overflowed with praise for her look. “The saree is stealing the show at the Met Gala. Alia Bhatt, you are absolutely stunning,” exclaimed one post. Another admirer wrote, “A desi woman is dominating the event, leaving everyone in awe of her cultural representation.”
Alia Bhatt’s custom embroidered saree elegantly embodied the theme of this year’s Met Gala, “Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion,” which featured the dress code “The Garden of Time.” Styled by Anaita Shroff, Alia’s ensemble was a perfect interpretation of the theme.

In an interview with Vogue before hitting the red carpet, Alia shared her thoughts on the outfit, stating, “The saree’s design, with its translucent, glass-like appearance, not only pays homage to the ethereal quality of the garden in Ballard’s story but also celebrates the exquisite craftsmanship of saree-making.” She further explained, “What attracted me to this look was the bold fusion of traditional craftsmanship with avant-garde aesthetics. Sabyasachi, renowned for seamlessly blending old-world charm with contemporary sophistication, was the ideal choice to embody this year’s Met Gala theme.”
