After a shooter opened fire inside a Walmart department store in Sam’s Circle in Chesapeake, Virginia, at least 10 people were murdered. According to the authorities, the shooter was also deceased.

Virginia State Senator Louise Lucas said on Twitter, “I am absolutely heartbroken that America’s latest mass shooting took place in a Walmart in my district in Chesapeake, Virginia tonight. I will not rest until we find the solutions to end this gun violence epidemic in our country that has taken so many lives.”
Police told reporters that the attack happened at 22:12 local time (03:12 GMT).
Online video purported to be of an eyewitness recounting the incident while wearing a Walmart uniform. He claimed to have exited a staff room when a manager entered and started firing.
The man stated, “Unfortunately, we lost a few of our associates,” adding that he did not know how many of his coworkers had been shot.
According to Leo Kosinski, a spokesman for the police, the shooting is thought to have taken place inside the business, and the suspect acted alone.
Walmart expressed its astonishment at the unfortunate incident and stated that it was “working closely with law enforcement.”
