TCS Takes Action And Bans Six Employees and Six Staffing Firms In Alleged Hiring Scam

Following whistleblower allegations around hiring scams, Tata Consultancy Services has taken action against the people accountable for conducting the scandal. The company banned six employees and six business associate firms associated with the recruitment bribe case.

While addressing the 28th Annual General Meeting of India’s largest IT Company, Tata Sons Chairperson N Chandrasekaran said that the company is looking into three more of its employees.  Moreover, it will make its supplier management process more stringent to abstain such incidents from happening again.

While emphasizing the necessity of ethical conduct and integrity among employees, he said, “The most important thing expected of every employee is ethical conduct and integrity, ahead of any financial performance. So, whenever there is a violation of ethical conduct by any employee, it pains me.” He further said that such incidents are taken gravely by our leaders therefore the repercussions for the same will be stringent.

Speaking of, the company received complaints regarding the matter between late February and early March. The allegations centred favouritism being done and favours being obtained in the recruitment of business associates-

The complaints, which were received between late February and early March, suggested that favouritism was being shown and received in the hiring of business associates—a term used by companies to refer to subcontractors or staffing companies that provide contractual workers.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, certain media reports indicated that TCS has suspended some certain employees for violating the company’s code of conduct and others for pegging gains made by the employees at Rs 100 crore.
