Tata to Launch New Tata Altroz CNG Model on 19th April

The launch of Tata Altroz CNG is scheduled for April 19th after displaying it at the Auto Expo for nearly three months. The latest addition to Tata Motors’ lineup of CNG-powered models will be positioned higher than the existing Tiago and Tigor CNG variants.

Derived from the petrol-powered Altroz, the Altroz CNG employs a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. Its power output in CNG mode is 77 PS, and the torque output is 97 Nm, whereas the standard petrol mode provides 86 PS and 113 Nm. Although the Altroz CNG’s fuel efficiency has not been announced, it is anticipated to be around the same as the Tiago CNG, which is 26.49 km/kg.

Similar to the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG, the Tata Altroz CNG also enables direct ignition in CNG mode. The vehicle is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox, which is the same as the petrol variant.

The exterior of the Tata Altroz CNG has only one modification when compared to the petrol variant, which is the inclusion of an ‘iCNG’ badge on the boot lid. The front of the vehicle has halogen projector headlamps and daytime running LEDs, while the side features 16-inch machined alloy wheels. At the rear, the Altroz CNG has LED tail lamps and a gloss black boot garnish.

The Altroz CNG distinguishes itself from the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG by having a dual-cylinder setup for the CNG tanks in the boot compartment. The CNG tanks have a capacity of 30 liters each, providing a total capacity similar to that of the single 60-liter tank in the Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG. However, the Altroz CNG’s two smaller CNG tanks with 30-liter capacity are placed beneath the boot floor, resulting in a more practical boot compartment.

The Tata Altroz CNG is anticipated to come in three variants: XM, XZ, and XZ+. This will allow customers to choose a fully-loaded Altroz CNG with all the possible features. The features available in the petrol Altroz are expected to be retained in the Altroz CNG, such as a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an engine start-stop button, auto AC, leatherette seats, rear AC vents, and a front center armrest. Additionally, Tata Motors may introduce a sunroof in the Altroz CNG, as seen in the Auto Expo 2023 showcase model.

Tata Motors is likely to set the price of the Altroz CNG about Rs 90,000 more than the petrol version, making it a direct competitor to the CNG-powered models of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
