Stock Market Today: Sensex Soars 790 Points, Nifty Ends Above 24,000

Indian benchmark equity indices closed firmly higher on Wednesday as robust buying in information technology, banking, financial and real estate counters boosted investor confidence and supported a broad market rally.

The BSE Sensex surged 790.54 points, or 1.04 per cent, to settle at 76,991.22. The NSE Nifty climbed 197.55 points, or 0.83 per cent, to finish at 24,021.65.

Market participants remained optimistic throughout the session and accumulated shares across key sectors.

Strong demand for technology and financial stocks helped benchmark indices register notable gains.

Analysts stated that the 24,100 level continues to serve as the immediate resistance zone for the Nifty. They noted that a sustained move above this mark could strengthen bullish momentum and push the index towards 24,200 and subsequently the 24,400 level.

Experts indicated that the 24,000 psychological level now acts as immediate support.

The 23,900-23,800 range remains the next important support zone.

Among Nifty constituents, InterGlobe Aviation, Adani Enterprises and Trent emerged as the session’s strongest performers after attracting substantial investor interest.

Broader markets also ended in positive territory. The Nifty MidCap index advanced 0.10 per cent, while the Nifty SmallCap index gained 0.39 per cent.

Sectoral indices reflected widespread strength. The Nifty IT and Nifty Realty indices outperformed the broader market and rose more than 2 per cent each.

Banking shares also remained in focus as the Nifty Bank and Nifty Private Bank indices recorded healthy gains.

The Nifty Auto and Nifty Metal indices closed lower and emerged as the weakest-performing sectors following profit-booking activity.

Market experts said strength in IT, banking and real estate shares offset weakness in selected sectors and helped domestic benchmarks finish the session with substantial gains.
