The benchmark equity indices resumed their record-breaking run on Tuesday, with the BSE Sensex breaching the historic 75,000 level for the first time in early trade and the Nifty soaring to a new record high.
The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 381.78 points to an all-time peak of 75,124.28. The NSE Nifty moved 99 points to reach its record high of 22,765.30.
Shee Cement, Infosys, Hindalco, Adani Power, Tata Steel, Vedanta, GAIL (India), and SBI Cards were the top gainers.
Among the laggards were Varun Beverages, Samvardhana Motherson, ICICI Lombard, Eicher Motors, Bosch, and Godrej Consumer.
In Asian markets, Tokyo and Hong Kong were trading higher, while Seoul and Shanghai were lower.
On Monday, Wall Street closed on a mixed note.
According to the exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold securities worth Rs 684.68 crore on Monday.
Brent crude gained 0.19 percent to USD 90.55 a barrel.
On Monday, the BSE benchmark climbed 494.28 points or 0.67 percent to 74,742.50, while the NSE Nifty jumped 152.60 points or 0.68 percent to 22,666.30.
