Amazon begins layoffs in India
As was expected, Amazon now kicks off its layoffs in India informing the fired employees via email with a promise of five months’ salary.
An email has been sent by Amazon to impacted employees ैwhich confirmed that they have been laid off. The company also asked them to meet the leadership team on a certain date for getting more clear about the situation.
It was Amazon CEO Andy Jassy who confirmed layoffs are coming. With the announcement, Jassy clarified that more than around eighteen thousand employees will be impacted by layoffs, the list includes many from India.
As per the previous reports, Amazon may opt for firing nearly 1000 employees working in India across various departments which will include tech and human resources and a few more. What is apparent, shows that the tech company has started firing employees globally, and Indian workers are also among them.
The Amazon CEO also confirmed in his last week’s blog post, the company will be communicating with impacted employees during the third week of January.
Social media witnessed the buzz about the global layoff, particularly LinkedIn and Twitter where the impacted Amazon employees are sharing that they have been laid off and now are available for new opportunities.

Sources reveal that layoffs have targeted multiple departments operating across India, with offices in Bengaluru and Gurugram along with various metro cities. The most impacted ones are the loss-making teams whereas the laid-off employees are both experienced as well as freshers.
Situation is not good also in terms of the final payment in Amazon now. Many of the former Twitter employees who have been fired by Elon Musk last year, still have not received updates on severance. Some employees were lucky to have received severance mail from the company which landed in the spam folder and they too are not very happy about the payment structure.
