According to Lalit Choudary, Dealer Principal of McLaren Mumbai, British supercar maker McLaren is optimistic about its growth prospects in India, having crossed the cumulative sales milestone of 50 units.
The company is keen to capitalize on the expanding market for luxury sports cars in the country.
Since officially entering the Indian market in 2022, McLaren has focused on the high-end supercar segment, with prices starting from Rs 6.5 crore.
Choudary shared that the company is aiming for even better performance in 2025 than what it achieved in the previous year.
“McLaren entered India in 2022. We have crossed the 50 car mark (cumulatively) which is quite a bit for us. It is a good number to achieve in a period of two-and-half to three years for a brand like McLaren, which is operating in the high sports segment and also new to the country,” Lalit Choudary told PTI.
Looking back at 2024, Choudary mentioned, “It was a good year partly on account of continued momentum on the high luxury segment and partly on account of McLaren’s own product portfolio.”
In total, McLaren sold 20 units in India in 2024. The brand’s offerings include the 750, Artura, and GTS models, with prices ranging from Rs 6.5 crore to Rs 7 crore.
When asked about McLaren’s expectations for 2025, Choudary expressed confidence that it would be another strong year.
He noted, “We are hoping to do better…Overall the fast car market, the high luxury segment continues to grow allowing a brand like McLaren to stabilize with year-on-year growth.”
However, Choudary refrained from setting a specific sales target, explaining that allocations determine the company’s sales, and the customization process for each vehicle can take six to seven months.
