The benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty soared in early trade on Wednesday, driven by buying in Reliance Industries and Tata Consultancy Services.
The BSE Sensex surged 236.83 points, or 0.30 percent to 76,693.42 in the early trade.
The NSE Nifty went up 81.50 points, or 0.35 percent to 23,346.35.
Siemens, Coal India, ABB India, GAIL(India), Bharat Electronics, Cholamandalam Invest, Jindal Steel & Power, BPCL, and Bajaj Finance were the top gainers.
Among the laggards were Marico, Pidilite Industries, United Spirits, Asian Paints, Titan, and TVS Motor Company.
In Asian markets, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Malaysia were trading higher, while Tokyo, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Shanghai were trading lower.
US markets concluded mostly higher on Tuesday.
Brent crude gained 0.42 percent to USD 82.26 per barrel.
According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 111.04 crore on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, the Sensex sank 33.49 points or 0.04 percent to 76,456.59, while the Nifty inched up 5.65 points or 0.02 percent to 23,264.85.
