Lex Fridman To Interview PM Narendra Modi In February; Calls Him ‘One Of The Most Fascinating Human Beings’

American podcaster Lex Fridman has expressed his admiration for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to him as one of the ‘most fascinating human beings’ he has ever studied. Fridman, who hosts the popular Lex Fridman Podcast, recently announced plans to visit India in late February and record a podcast episode with Modi.

In a post on X, Fridman wrote, “Narendra Modi is one of the most fascinating human beings I have ever studied. I can’t wait to talk to him on the podcast for several hours in a few weeks.”

Fridman emphasized that he is eager to explore not just Modi’s political role, but also his ‘human side.’ The podcaster highlighted Modi’s dedication to spiritual practices, such as his annual multi-day fasts during Navaratri, as a notable example of his personal discipline and spiritual commitment.

Lex Fridman Draws Parallels With Modi’s Fasting

Fridman went on to share his own experience with fasting, noting that he fasts for 48 to 72 hours regularly. He explained that he plans to undertake a fast of similar length before meeting Modi in India to better connect with the prime minister’s practices. “On top of the complex, deep history of India, and his role in it, just the human side of Modi is really interesting,” Fridman added.

Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas, who recently met PM Modi to discuss AI adoption, responded to Fridman’s post by calling Modi “awesome.” Srinivas, who was impressed by Modi’s global reach on the topic of AI and his forward-thinking vision, emphasized the significance of the conversation with the prime minister.

Prime Minister Modi made his podcast debut with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath. Now, Modi is set to appear on Fridman’s renowned show, which has featured prominent figures such as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Donald Trump, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, and billionaire Elon Musk, among others.

Who Is Lex Fridman?

Lex Fridman, known for his engaging interviews with top global figures, has been hosting the Lex Fridman Podcast since 2018. Fridman holds a PhD in Philosophy and Computer Science from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He began his career at Google, where he researched active authentication via machine learning.

In 2015, Fridman joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a researcher focusing on human-centered AI and autonomous vehicles. He has since collaborated with major tech companies, including Tesla, on the development of autonomous driving systems.

Born in Chkalovsk, Russia, Fridman moved to the United States after the fall of the USSR. Today, he is widely recognize for his work in AI research and his thought-provoking podcast interviews.
