KT Corp Joins Forces With Microsoft For AI & Cloud Development

In a bid to advance South Korea’s digital innovation landscape, KT Corp, a leading telecom company, announced its strategic partnership with US tech giant Microsoft on Tuesday.

The collaboration aims to foster the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing industries within the country.

According to reports from Yonhap news agency, KT Corp officials revealed plans for joint research projects in AI and cloud technologies. KT CEO Kim Young-shub expressed determination to leverage the partnership to establish significant milestones in South Korea’s digital evolution.

He emphasized the importance of adapting swiftly to market changes through comprehensive collaboration with Microsoft.

Concurrently, Microsoft unveiled another major collaboration, this time with Hitachi, projecting a multibillion-dollar venture over the next three years.

The alliance is set to drive social innovation using generative AI technologies.

Under this ambitious partnership, Hitachi aims to accelerate the growth of its Lumada business, targeting a staggering revenue of $18.9 billion in the fiscal year 2024.

Additionally, the collaboration intends to enhance operational efficiency and productivity for Hitachi Group’s extensive workforce, comprising 270,000 employees.

Microsoft’s Chairman and CEO, Satya Nadella, expressed enthusiasm for the new era of AI, stressing its potential to deliver transformative outcomes across various industries and job roles.

As part of the collaboration, Hitachi plans to train over 50,000 professionals specialized in generative AI, thereby equipping them to drive innovation and meet evolving market demands.

The partnerships between KT Corp and Microsoft, as well as Hitachi and Microsoft, underscore the growing significance of AI and cloud technologies in shaping the future of businesses and societies worldwide.

These collaborations not only signify a strategic alignment between industry leaders but also hold the promise of driving substantial advancements in technological innovation and societal progress.
