Job Opportunities For Women In India Surge By 48% In 2025

The job market in India is experiencing a significant shift as job opportunities for women increased by 48% in 2025 compared to the previous year, according to a new report from foundit (formerly Monster APAC & ME).

This surge is particularly driven by high demand in sectors such as information technology (IT), banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), manufacturing, healthcare, and emerging technology roles like AI and cybersecurity.

High Demand For Freshers

A key takeaway from the report is that around 25% of the job openings for women in 2025 are for freshers. Early-career professionals are highly sought after in sectors such as IT, human resources (HR), and marketing.

The demand for new talent highlights the evolving nature of the job market, where young, adaptable professionals are crucial to meet the growth needs of dynamic industries.

The majority of jobs for women fall within the 0-3 years experience category, accounting for 53% of the roles. Meanwhile, positions requiring 4-6 years of experience make up 32% of the available jobs.

Among these, the IT/computers-software industry continues to dominate, comprising 34% of the job market for women, with recruitment/staffing, BFSI, and advertising/PR/events also seeing growth.

Rise Of Women In STEM & Specialized Roles

An encouraging trend is the rising number of women in STEM fields, which now make up 44% of STEM graduates in India.

In addition to the increase in tech roles, engineering and production sectors are also seeing a growing female workforce, with participation increasing from 6% to 8% over the last year.

This surge reflects the growing need for specialized talent in fields like AI, cybersecurity, data science, and cloud computing.

Geographic Shift

Another notable change is the increase in job opportunities for women in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

The report reveals that the share of women’s jobs in cities like Nashik, Surat, Coimbatore, and Jaipur has increased to 41%, compared to 59% in Tier-1 cities.

This trend signals the decentralization of employment opportunities, making it easier for women to pursue careers outside of major metropolitan areas.

Work-from-Office Trends & Salary Distribution

The rise in work-from-office arrangements, up by 55%, is also noteworthy, as it signals a shift in employer priorities.

Although challenges related to salary parity and evolving work-mode preferences remain, the overall outlook for women’s workforce participation in 2025 remains positive.

In terms of salary distribution, the majority of women’s jobs (81%) fall within the 0-10 lakh annual salary range, followed by 11% in the 11-25 lakh range, and 8% earning more than 25 lakh.

This data highlights the increasing financial independence of women as they continue to advance in their careers.

The job market in India is increasingly becoming more inclusive, with women making significant strides across various sectors.

The demand for freshers and the rise in opportunities in high-growth industries signal a promising future for women’s workforce participation.
