Janmashtami 2026: Adani Electricity Issues Safety Advisory For Dahi Handi Events

On Friday, Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited launched an electrical safety awareness drive for Dahi Handi organisers and contractors ahead of the Janmashtami celebrations in Mumbai.

The company said its teams visited Dahi Handi venues within its licensed area and briefed organisers and electrical contractors on precautions required for temporary installations, lighting, sound systems and decorations.

The teams explained key safety measures that need to be followed at the venues.

An Adani Electricity spokesperson said the company had made advance arrangements by inspecting important locations, deploying personnel and coordinating with organisers and the administration.

The spokesperson further urged residents and event organisers to prioritise electrical safety while celebrating the festival.

The company advised organisers to maintain a safe distance between the handi, platforms and human pyramids and overhead power lines.

Temporary power connections should be metered, while installation and wiring must be handled by licensed electrical contractors.

The company recommended the use of ISI-marked cables, appropriately rated MCBs and RCCB safety devices.

Proper earthing should be provided for metal structures, trusses, scaffolding and poles.

Meter boxes and distribution panels should remain closed, secured, elevated and inaccessible to the public.

Organisers have, however, been warned against attaching ropes, banners or structures to electric poles, stay wires or street-light poles.

Platforms, pavilions and billboards should not be placed close to overhead lines.

The company said organisers must not draw power directly from street lines or use unauthorised connections.

Water should not be sprayed near electrical equipment, while loose joints and overloading of electrical points must be avoided.

Access to feeder pillars and substations should remain clear, and people should not climb power poles or transformer structures during events.

Adani Electricity said the organising board and its licensed contractor will remain responsible for on-site electrical installations and related arrangements. Its 24×7 toll-free helpline, 19122, is available for power-related emergencies.
