IOCL Says LPG Supply Nears 70% Of Pre-Crisis Levels; No Shortage Reported

State-run Indian Oil Corporation said on Monday that commercial LPG supply has rebounded to nearly 70 per cent of pre-crisis levels, even as geopolitical tensions continue to disrupt global energy markets.

The company highlighted its ongoing efforts to ensure reliable and efficient energy access. It aims to support both households and businesses during the current period of uncertainty.

According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, online LPG bookings have surged to 95 per cent, while no cases of stock depletion have been reported across distributorships.

More than 51 lakh domestic cylinders were delivered on April 4 alone, reflecting steady supply on the ground.

To streamline deliveries and prevent diversion, the adoption of Delivery Authentication Code-based systems has risen sharply to 90 per cent. This is compared to 53 per cent in February, before disruptions linked to the Iran conflict.

Consumers have been encouraged to use digital booking channels and avoid visiting distributors unless necessary.

Demand for smaller cylinders has also picked up significantly, with sales of 5 kg LPG cylinders crossing 90,000 on Saturday.

Since March 23, around 6.6 lakh units have been sold. These cylinders are available at nearby distributorships and can be purchased with valid ID proof without address verification.

The government stated that all refineries are operating at high capacity, supported by adequate crude inventories and sufficient availability of petrol and diesel nationwide.

Domestic LPG production has also been increased to meet rising demand.

Authorities reiterated that there is no fuel shortage and urged citizens to avoid panic buying or unnecessary LPG bookings.

IOCL added that it remains focused on ensuring consistent fuel availability, prioritising critical sectors such as hospitals, pharmaceuticals and educational institutions.
