India’s Potential To Become A Top Five Market For Maybach, Says Mercedes-Maybach Head

India has the potential to become one of the top five global markets for Maybach, according to Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes-Maybach.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Lescow highlighted the growing demand for high-end luxury vehicles in the country, stating that sales of the Maybach portfolio in India increased by over 140 percent year-on-year last year, with more than 500 units sold.

Introduction Of Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series

To further boost its presence in India, Mercedes-Benz introduced the Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, priced at Rs 4.2 crore (ex-showroom).

This new addition to the portfolio reflects the brand’s commitment to catering to the growing demand for premium luxury cars in the country.

Lescow emphasized the importance of India as a key market for Mercedes-Maybach, pointing out that the country’s evolved sense of luxury makes it a highly attractive market.

“India is already in the top ten markets for Maybach globally, and we believe there is a significant potential for growth here. India can grow into one of the top five markets for Maybach worldwide,” he said.

Global Market Leaders

Currently, countries like China, the US, and South Korea lead the sales volume for Maybach globally, Lescow noted.

However, India’s luxury car market continues to show impressive growth, and Lescow believes the country is likely for even greater success in the future.

Lescow expressed satisfaction with how well the Maybach brand is perceived by Indian customers, adding that the positive reception is reflected in the sales figures.

To further increase brand visibility and awareness, the company is planning to open more exclusive Maybach lounges across India.

Mercedes-Benz India already has a dedicated Maybach lounge in Hyderabad and is considering expanding to other cities.

Mercedes-Maybach’s Global Sales And India’s Offerings

Globally, Mercedes-Maybach sold approximately 21,000 units last year, a testament to the brand’s growing global influence.

In India, the luxury carmaker offers a wide range of Maybach models, including the S 680 Night Series, GLS 600 Night Series, EQS 680 Night Series, EQS SUV, and the locally manufactured S 580 limousine.

The newly launched Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series comes equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, delivering 585 horsepower and a top speed of 260 km/h.

Deliveries of the model are expected to begin early next year, marking another milestone in Mercedes-Maybach’s expansion in India.
