India’s coffee exports increased 15% in value terms to $1.05 billion during April-September FY26, up from $918 million in the same period last fiscal, according to Coffee Board data.
In rupee terms, exports rose 19% to Rs 9,119.24 crore from Rs 7,678.74 crore a year ago. Exporters earned Rs 4.71 lakh per tonne, a 34% increase from Rs 3.52 lakh per tonne in H1 FY25.
The country shipped 2.96 lakh tonnes of coffee during January–September 2025, compared to 3.34 lakh tonnes last year. India ranks as the seventh-largest producer and fifth-largest exporter of coffee globally.
Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal inaugurated the Coffee Experience Zone and Expo, organised by the Coffee Board on International Coffee Day.
Agrawal highlighted that Indian coffee is sustainably grown alongside forests and noted that coffee exports have doubled in recent years.
Agrawal urged stakeholders to diversify coffee cultivation, innovate, and add value. He emphasised positioning ‘Brand India’ strongly in the global market, leveraging India’s rich spice heritage for coffee innovation.
The event coincides with the India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA). EFTA countries — Switzerland ($145 million), Norway ($27 million), and Iceland ($3 million) — together import coffee valued at $175 million, accounting for about 3% of global coffee imports.
Coffee Board data for Liechtenstein trade was not available.
