Linking Aadhaar To PAN Card
Based on a notification issued on Tuesday, the Union Law and Justice Ministry extended the deadline for voluntary Aadhaar and Voter ID linking from April 1 this year to March 31, 2024.
The Ministry had notified April 1, 2023, as the date on or before which every person whose name is included in the electoral roll may intimate his Aadhaar number in accordance with the said section on June 17, 2022. The notification on Tuesday changed the date to March 31st, 2024.
Under the Election Laws (Amendment) Act, 2021, the Election Commission began a campaign on August 1, 2022, to collect voters’ Aadhaar numbers in a voluntary drive.
The EC stated that it had collected 54.32 crore of Aadhaar numbers as of December 12, 2022, but that the process of linking them with Voter IDs had not yet begun.
According to the EC, there were 95 crore registered voters in the country as of January 1, 2023.
Step 1: Go to the National Voter’s Service Portal (NVSP) official website, nvsp.in.
Step 2: Log in to the portal and go to the homepage’s “Search in Electoral Roll” option.
Step 3: Enter personal information and the Aadhaar number.
Step 4: After entering Aadhar information, users will receive an OTP on their registered mobile number or email address.
Step 5: Enter the OTP to authenticate. Your Voter ID card will then be linked to your Aadhaar card.
