Goa Sees Record Tourist Footfall With Over 54 Lakh Visitors In First Half Of 2025

Goa welcomed over 54 lakh tourists in the first six months of 2025, marking a historic surge in tourist footfall, according to data from the state’s tourism department.

Between January and June 2025, 54,55,091 tourists visited the state, up from 50,31,179 during the same period in 2024.

The department noted that the rise was across all categories, including solo travellers, families, group tours, and Free Independent Travellers (FITs). Of the total arrivals, 51.84 lakh were domestic visitors, while 2.71 lakh were international tourists.

January saw the highest influx with 10.56 lakh visitors, including 9.86 lakh domestic and 70,000 international tourists. February followed with 9.05 lakh arrivals, and March recorded 8.89 lakh visitors, including 56,000 from abroad.

Despite the summer season, tourism remained steady. April registered 8.42 lakh tourists, May recorded 9.27 lakh, and June saw 8.34 lakh visitors.

Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, credited the growth to a multi-pronged strategy. “We have intensified promotional campaigns, participated in leading travel trade exhibitions, and launched innovative marketing initiatives under the ‘Regenerative Tourism’ umbrella,” he said.

The department also highlighted Goa’s presence at major travel trade fairs, promotion of cultural and monsoon tourism, and improved flight connectivity as key factors attracting foreign tourists from the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

The tourism department expects the upward trend to continue in the second half of 2025.
