Gautam Adani Hails Navi Mumbai International Airport As A Monument Of Collective Effort

Gautam Adani expressed his appreciation for the thousands of workers, staff, and differently-abled colleagues who contributed to the creation of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).

Posting on social media platform X, he stated, “To every hand that worked and every heart that cared, this is your creation.”

His son, Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airports, described the gesture as ‘a deeply touching and humbling lesson in leadership’, highlighting the importance of recognising collective effort in large-scale infrastructure projects.

During his visit to the airport, Gautam Adani referred to it as ‘a monument shaped by thousands of hands and hearts’, personally saluting the efforts of construction workers, staff, and colleagues involved in bringing the project to life.

His remarks emphasised the value of teamwork and the human spirit in achieving monumental feats of engineering and infrastructure.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

The Navi Mumbai International Airport is designed to cater to both domestic and international travellers, featuring a 3,700-metre runway capable of handling large commercial aircraft.

The modern passenger terminals include advanced air traffic control systems and facilities aimed at providing a seamless travel experience.

The airport will manage 2 crore passengers per annum (MPPA), meeting the growing air traffic demands of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Western India while enhancing India’s global connectivity.

NMIA is strategically located, 14 km from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), 22 km from MIDC Taloja Industrial area, 32 km from Thane, 35 km from Mumbai Port Trust (via Mumbai Trans Harbour Link), and 40 km from Bhiwandi.

This positioning ensures seamless connectivity to industrial hubs, ports, and residential areas.

The airport recently received its Aerodrome Licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), a key requirement to commence operations.

Airlines, including IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India Express, have already announced plans to operate initial domestic flights connecting NMIA to major cities across India.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport will significantly reduce congestion at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and support the region’s growing air travel demand.

With modern infrastructure, strategic connectivity, and recognition of the workforce’s efforts, the project stands as a model for large-scale infrastructure development in India.
