Akasa Air has been flying in Indian skies since August 7, 2022, and is going to celebrate its 1-year anniversary. Now they are planning to start their operation in international skies by the end of this year.
At the commencement of Akasa Air, CEO and Co-founder Vinay Dubey stated that he wanted 18 Akasa aircraft at the end of 2022. Currently, they have 19 aircraft in their fleet, and 110 flights are in operation on a daily basis.
During the recent interview session, Vinay Dubey said that the 20th aircraft order has already been placed, and they are expecting its delivery by the end of this year. It will be a 3-digit aircraft with a much larger space. The destination of an international flight has not been decided yet, but flying in international skies is confirmed.
When asked about the market competition, he replied that the primary target of Akasa Air is to provide good customer experience, budget-friendly expenses, and a good employee-centric culture. Akasa Airlines has 37% women overall in their workforce, but the goal of 50/50 is still needed to be achieved.
The consumer will get a new experience with Akasa Air as the planes are new, there is more legroom space, an advanced digital experience, and a device holder on every seat, he added
Akasa Air is also in good talks about their policies, like the uniform structure of flight attendants, replacing heels with shoes, gender neutral and using recycled material to a larger extent, and pet policy.
“Our abroad experience has also been extremely highly regarded over the past seven months. I believe that adjectives like “warm,” “empathetic,” and “kind” have begun to be used, which are exactly the types of phrases that we would like to have connected to the Akasa experience,” he added. The airline currently employs more than 2,000 people, and by the end of March 2024, that number is anticipated to reach 3,000.
