Five Of India’s Top 10 Firms Lose Over Rs 1 Lakh Crore In Market Value

Five companies among India’s 10 most valuable listed firms collectively shed more than ₹1 lakh crore in market capitalisation last week as falling equities weakened investor sentiment.

The benchmark Sensex ended the week 489.92 points, or 0.62 per cent, lower, while the Nifty dropped 204.65 points, representing a decline of 0.83 per cent.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) experienced the largest decline among the country’s top 10 firms.

The technology company saw its market capitalisation fall by ₹34,263.28 crore to ₹8.53 lakh crore.

Reliance Industries recorded a significant reduction of ₹31,869.13 crore, bringing its valuation down to ₹17.70 lakh crore.

State Bank of India followed with a decline of ₹25,891.88 crore, leaving the lender with a market capitalisation of ₹9.86 lakh crore.

HDFC Bank’s market value decreased by ₹7,165.37 crore to ₹11.21 lakh crore during the week.

ICICI Bank saw its valuation fall, losing ₹2,792.65 crore to finish at ₹10.18 lakh crore.

Market weakness did not affect all leading companies, with five firms collectively adding ₹55,149.45 crore to their market capitalisation.

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) recorded the largest increase, gaining ₹26,438.49 crore and taking its valuation to ₹5.23 lakh crore.

Bharti Airtel added ₹20,592.13 crore to reach a market value of ₹12.43 lakh crore.

Bajaj Finance increased its market capitalisation by ₹3,548.79 crore to ₹6.77 lakh crore, while Larsen & Toubro gained ₹2,490.66 crore to reach ₹5.59 lakh crore.

Hindustan Unilever registered an increase of ₹2,079.38 crore, taking its market value to ₹4.91 lakh crore.

Reliance Industries continued to rank as India’s most valuable company at the close of the week.

Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, TCS, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, LIC and Hindustan Unilever followed in the rankings.
