Elon Musk’s Neuralink Gets FDA Approval For Human Test Of Brain Implants

Elon Musk’s startup Neuralink announced a new milestone on Thursday. The company aims to enable direct communication between human brains and the future. It has obtained approval from US regulators to test its brain implants in people.

The brain-machine interface company said that receiving approval from the US Foof and Drug Administration (FDA) for its first-in-human clinical study is a crucial first step for its technology. The company also expressed its excitement and satisfaction while revealing the acquisition of FDA approval to commence its inaugural clinical study involving human participants.

The development of Neuralink’s groundbreaking technology was announced through a tweet posted by the startup company. The post read, “We are excited to share that we have received the FDAs approval to launch our first-in-human clinical study.” Neuralink further articulated, “This is the result of incredible work by the Neuralink team in close collaboration with the FDA and represents an important first step that will one day allow our technology to help many people. Recruitment is not yet open for our clinical trial. We’ll announce more information on this soon!”

While the clinical trial’s recruitment process has not yet started, Neuralink aims to promote direct brain-computer communication. The implantable Neuralink device, according to Elon Musk, would allow users to communicate with computers by using their minds.

The company has made great progress, as shown by implantation tests carried out on monkeys, where the animals were able to control cursors and play video games using the Neuralink interface. The technology developed by Neuralink has a plethora of potential uses. Musk imagines a future in which people with disabilities could regain lost abilities like mobility and vision.

Musk has expressed concerns about the potential dominance of artificial intelligence and stated that the company’s ultimate goal is to improve human intellectual capabilities through brain-machine interfaces, which goes beyond medical applications.
