Dr Priti Adani Calls For Industry-Academia Collaboration To Strengthen India’s Semiconductor Sector

Dr Priti Adani, Founder and Chairperson of the Adani Foundation, has called for closer collaboration between industry and academia to develop the skilled workforce needed to strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Speaking at the ‘Conclave on Hardware, Innovation, Processing & Semiconductor Technologies (CHIPS) 2026’, hosted by Adani University, Dr Priti Adani stressed that the sector needs skilled people alongside advanced manufacturing facilities.

“The true measure of our technological progress will not be how intelligent our machines become. It will be how wisely we develop and use human intelligence to build a better future,” she said.

The conclave featured keynote addresses by experts from Qualcomm, NXP Semiconductors, Micron Technology, Synopsys, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and Infineon Technologies. Their discussions covered wireless technology, semiconductor design, memory and storage, power systems and legal services.

Three panel discussions examined key priorities for the sector.

‘The Future of Semiconductor Design in India’ explored ways to strengthen domestic design capabilities.

The panels explored India’s semiconductor manufacturing potential and discussed emerging jobs and skills across the sector.

Adani University organised CHIPS 2026 in collaboration with IIT Mandi, the VLSI Society of India and Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas.

Representatives from the Gujarat State Electronics Mission, semiconductor companies and academic institutions discussed aligning research and technical education with industry requirements.

India’s semiconductor ambitions extend across chip design, manufacturing and packaging.

The India Semiconductor Mission has accelerated the sector’s development, while projects in Dholera and Sanand are strengthening Gujarat’s position in the industry.

Growing artificial intelligence adoption is increasing demand for advanced chips, data centres and reliable power infrastructure.

Adani University plans to develop semiconductor expertise at its upcoming multidisciplinary global campus in Ahmedabad.

The university plans specialised courses for engineers, executive training for professionals and faculty development to align research with industry needs.
