Centre Approves Additional 5,000 MW Renewable Energy Allocation For Rajasthan

The central government has approved an additional allocation of 5,000 MW of renewable energy to Rajasthan under Component-A of the PM Kusum Yojana. This decision, announced on Thursday, underscores Rajasthan’s leadership in the solar energy sector and marks a key milestone in the state’s renewable energy initiatives.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma had earlier sent an official letter to the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, requesting the additional 5,000 MW allocation. The matter was further discussed during a recent meeting between the two leaders in Delhi on January 7, 2025.

Centre Approves Additional Renewable Energy

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi confirmed the approval through a post on his X account. He stated, “Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and his team met me in Delhi on January 7, 2025, requesting an additional 5,000 MW under the PM Kusum (Component A – Feeder Level Solarisation) scheme. I am pleased to announce that we have swiftly approved this request and issued orders for the additional allocation.”

Joshi further emphasized the government’s commitment, saying, “Under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi, we remain dedicated to leading the renewable energy sector and addressing the concerns and needs of state governments, who are key partners in this endeavour.”

Central Government Aims For Daytime Electricity By 2027

The Rajasthan government has been proactive in implementing the PM Kusum Yojana, focusing on increasing solar power adoption at the grassroots level. This additional allocation is expected to help the state achieve its ambitious goal of ensuring daytime electricity for farmers by 2027.

Officials believe that this move will significantly enhance the state’s solar energy capacity and provide sustainable energy solutions to support the agricultural community.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has expressed confidence that the state is on the path to energy self-sufficiency. “By 2027, Rajasthan will be self-sufficient in electricity,” he stated, reinforcing the state’s commitment to advancing renewable energy and meeting the growing energy demands of its population.
