BMW Group India Clocks Best-Ever Sales At 15,721 Units In 2024 With 11% Growth

BMW Group India announced on Tuesday that it achieved its best-ever annual car deliveries in 2024, recording 15,721 units with an 11% growth compared to the previous year. This achievement reflects the rising disposable incomes in the country, positioning India as an aspirational market for luxury automobiles.

The company also reached a significant milestone by becoming the first luxury carmaker in India to surpass 3,000 electric vehicle (EV) deliveries. With a total of 15,721 cars (BMW and MINI) and 8,301 motorcycles (BMW Motorrad) sold between January and December 2024, BMW Group India demonstrated strong market demand.

In the final quarter of 2024, BMW Group India continued its growth momentum, selling 4,958 units in the October-December period, marking a 15% increase in sales. December was particularly successful, with 2,244 units delivered, reflecting a 17% growth for the month.

Strong Product Line-Up And Milestone Sales

BMW’s diverse product line-up contributed significantly to its success, with a strong product offensive in the luxury segment. Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India, stated that the introduction of new initiatives, such as Retail.NEXT and the expansion of bespoke services, helped the company achieve these record sales.

The BMW Luxury Class, which includes models like the BMW 7 Series, BMW i7, BMW X7, and BMW XM, saw impressive sales of 2,507 units. The BMW X7 was the highest-selling model in the Luxury Class segment in 2024, bringing the total number of X7 units sold in India to over 5,000 since its launch.

EV Leadership In India

BMW Group India also solidified its position as a leader in luxury electric mobility. In 2024, the company delivered 1,249 units of fully electric BMW and MINI cars. The BMW i7, a key electric model, was the top-selling luxury EV in its class, with 384 units delivered.

BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle division, also recorded significant achievements in 2024. The brand delivered a total of 8,301 motorcycles, with 1,041 units sold in its completely built-up (CBU) bike portfolio, marking a best-ever performance.

Since starting operations in India in 2007, BMW Group India has built a robust presence in the country, with a manufacturing plant in Chennai, a parts warehouse in Pune, and a training centre in Gurgaon NCR. The company has also developed an extensive dealer network across major metropolitan areas.

BMW Group India’s 2024 performance underscores its commitment to maintaining its leadership position in the luxury automotive market while continuously expanding its offerings in the electric vehicle sector.
