Separately, Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) has reported planting more than 1.6 million trees and saplings across 568 hectares at the Parsa East and Kanta Basan (PEKB) mine in Chhattisgarh’s Surguja district as part of its ecological restoration efforts.
According to the company, the initiative has transformed previously mined land into a green landscape. Its restoration programme involves planting 40 trees for every tree removed during mining operations.
The company has replanted native species, including Sal, Mahua, Tendu, Amaltas and Sidha, and reported a survival rate of around 88 per cent.
AEL operates the mine as the developer and operator for Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL).
The company aims to expand green cover to over four million trees by 2030. It has developed a 3.5-hectare nursery with around 500,000 saplings and reported successful Sal forest regeneration.
According to officials, the group has undertaken afforestation across more than 4,000 hectares and contributed over ₹259 crore to the Chhattisgarh government for environmental protection and wildlife management.
