Bengaluru Ranked Seventh Among World’s Top AI Hubs, India Leads In AI Research Institutions

Linkee.ai ranked Bengaluru seventh on the list of the top 10 artificial intelligence (AI) hubs worldwide in a report released on Friday.

The report also highlighted that India, tied with Germany, has the highest number of AI research institutions globally.

With 759 AI startups, Bengaluru achieved an aggregate score of 4.64. The city’s strong position is bolstered by its high number of AI research institutions and available AI-related jobs.

Bengaluru and Berlin both have nine AI research facilities, the most of any city on the list, the report highlighted.

China has 518 AI startups. However, it only has six AI research institutions, underscoring India and Germany’s significant lead in AI research infrastructure.

One notable AI research institution in Berlin is the Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data (BIFOLD).

AI hubs are cities that have substantial investments in AI. They feature numerous AI-related jobs and are home to highly paid AI specialists, data scientists, and machine learning experts. Additionally, they host a significant number of AI institutions.

“Similar to Berlin, Bengaluru has the highest number of AI research institutions on the list, as well as the highest number of available AI jobs in the city,” the report stated.

Boston, USA, leads the ranking as the top AI hub for 2024 with a score of 6.26, followed by Singapore, which holds the second spot with a score of 5.92.

Tel Aviv, Israel, ranks third with a score of 5.62, while Zurich, Switzerland, and Toronto, Canada, hold the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

Notably, five out of the ten leading AI hubs are located in Asia, reflecting the continent’s significant role in the global AI landscape.
