Online travel booking platform EaseMyTrip has partnered with Apple Pay in India.
Company co-founder Rikant Pittie announced the development through a LinkedIn post. He said EaseMyTrip is among the early partners launching Apple Pay in India.
Once Apple Pay goes live, eligible EaseMyTrip customers can use the service to pay while booking travel.
The company said the option will make payments faster and more convenient. It described the move as an important step towards providing travellers with a smoother booking experience.
Apple launched Apple Pay in India on Wednesday. iPhone and iPad users can currently use the service through apps and websites. The facility will soon extend to Mac users.
Apple Pay will reduce the need for customers to repeatedly enter contact, card, shipping and billing details during transactions.
Axis Bank and CCAvenue have joined Apple Pay as partners in India. These partnerships will extend the payment service across bank customers and merchant networks.
On EaseMyTrip, Apple Pay will serve as an additional payment option during travel bookings.
The partnership comes as EaseMyTrip expands beyond online travel bookings into mobility-related businesses. Its electric mobility arm, Easy Green Mobility (EMTev), recently began deploying electric buses in Bhopal.
The company is working to develop the capacity to manufacture 5,000 electric buses annually over the next five years.
The Apple Pay collaboration currently covers EaseMyTrip’s digital booking business.
According to Rikant Pittie, the company is working to improve every stage of the booking process, including payment speed, convenience and security.
