Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL) has cut compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) prices across several regions, providing immediate relief to households and motorists.
The company took the step after the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) reset gas transportation tariffs, which lowered input costs for city gas distributors.
ATGL said it has reduced CNG and domestic PNG prices by up to ₹4. The extent of the cut varies by region due to transportation zones.
In Gujarat and nearby parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, ATGL reduced CNG prices by ₹0.50 to ₹1.90 per kg. It also lowered domestic PNG prices by up to ₹1.10 per standard cubic metre (scm).
In Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana-NCR, northern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas of Uttar Pradesh, CNG prices fell by ₹1.40 to ₹2.55 per kg. ATGL cut domestic PNG prices in these regions by ₹1.10 to ₹4.00 per scm.
Central and Eastern India saw steeper reductions. ATGL lowered CNG prices by ₹1.81 to ₹4.05 per kg and reduced PNG prices by up to ₹4.00 per scm.
The price revision follows PNGRB’s new tariff order, which came into effect on January 1, 2026. The regulator merged three gas transportation zones into two.
Under the new structure, PNGRB applies a uniform Zone-1 tariff of around ₹54 per million British thermal unit, excluding taxes.
The rate now applies nationwide to domestic PNG and CNG transport segments.
The simplified tariff removes regional disparities and enables distributors to pass on savings directly to consumers.
Other city gas retailers have also announced price cuts. GAIL Gas Ltd reduced CNG and PNG prices by ₹1. Indraprastha Gas Ltd cut PNG prices for cooking in Delhi-NCR by ₹0.70 per scm. Think Gas lowered CNG prices by ₹2.50 per kg and PNG prices by up to ₹5 per scm.
Welcoming the reform, ATGL Executive Director and CEO Suresh P Manglani said the changes would make natural gas more affordable. He added that the move would accelerate the adoption of cleaner fuels in homes and transport.
Natural gas currently accounts for about 6 per cent of India’s energy mix. Industry experts say such reforms are vital to achieving the government’s target of raising the share to 15 per cent by 2030.
