Adani Total Gas Holds CNG, Cooking Gas Prices Amid Iran War Supply Disruptions

Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL) has decided not to increase the prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) for vehicles and piped natural gas (PNG) supplied to household kitchens, despite disruptions in global gas supplies caused by the ongoing Iran war.

Company officials confirmed that the decision aims to protect household consumers and vehicle owners from immediate price fluctuations while the company manages supply constraints triggered by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Company officials said nearly 70 per cent of ATGL’s gas supply comes from domestic sources, which the company mainly distributes through retail CNG stations and piped gas connections for residential cooking.

Since these supplies remain largely stable, the company has chosen to keep prices unchanged for these two consumer categories.

However, supply conditions have tightened for large industrial and commercial users due to disruptions in imported natural gas shipments.

Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL), a joint venture between the Adani Group and TotalEnergies, imports around 30% of its gas as LNG for industrial and commercial customers.

Amid supply disruptions linked to the Iran conflict, the company has asked these customers to limit consumption to 40% of their contracted volumes.

Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has slowed due to rising Gulf tensions. The route carries nearly 20% of global oil and gas exports, making any disruption significant for energy markets.

The crisis intensified after missile strikes affected regional stability and forced the suspension of some LNG shipments from Qatar.

ATGL said customers can receive gas at contracted rates within the 40% limit, while any extra supply will be priced at prevailing spot market rates.

The company added that it is prioritising uninterrupted supply for households and transport fuel users while managing global supply disruptions.
