Adani Total Gas and Shigan Collaborate to Drive Decarbonization Initiatives

In a significant move towards sustainability and environmental responsibility, Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL), a prominent energy and city gas distribution company in India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shigen Quantum Technologies Limited (SHIGEN), a provider of alternative fuel system solutions. The collaborative effort aims to decarbonize the supply chain, fostering an ecosystem for the transition to clean fuels such as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

Under the MoU, ATGL and Shigen will explore various areas of cooperation, with a primary focus on the adoption of natural gas for transportation and mining applications through sustainable solutions. Shigen Automotive, specializing in alternative fuel system solutions for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and aftermarkets, will contribute its expertise to the initiative. The partnership will also extend its focus to retrofitting solutions, including LNG, for stationary engines, locomotives, marine equipment, and other applications.

In addition to CNG/LNG retrofitment solutions, the collaboration will delve into the development of e-mobility-based solutions for last-mile delivery players and the utilization of green hydrogen as fuel for Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles.

Both ATGL and Shigen express confidence that this collaboration will positively impact the environment and the broader business community. The MoU reflects a shared commitment to prioritizing sustainability efforts without compromising operational efficiency.

Suresh P. Mangalani, Executive Director and CEO of ATGL emphasized the collective vision for a greener, more sustainable future. He anticipates co-developing end-to-end solutions that will assist the transport and mining industries in their decarbonization journey, aligning with the country’s net-zero commitments.

Shishir Agarwal, Managing Director of Shigen, echoed the sentiment, expressing excitement about the collaboration’s potential to drive environmental responsibility. The transition to clean fuels is not only expected to reduce carbon footprints but also inspire positive change within the industry.

ATGL, co-promoted by the Adani Group and Total Energies, is actively involved in developing City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks for the continuous supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and CNG. The company plays a pivotal role in increasing the share of natural gas in India’s energy mix, with a presence in 33 geographical areas.

This collaboration signifies a strategic step forward in the pursuit of sustainable fuel solutions and reinforces the commitment of both entities to address environmental challenges while meeting the growing energy needs of India.
