Adani Total Gas and Flipkart Join Forces in Landmark MOU to Decarbonize Supply Chain

Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL), India’s foremost energy and city gas distribution company, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Flipkart, the country’s homegrown e-commerce giant. The collaboration aims to align with Flipkart’s vision of reducing the carbon footprint in the primary, secondary, and tertiary movement of goods across sourcing locations, warehouses, and customers.

Under the MoU, ATGL will collaborate with Flipkart to provide decarbonizing solutions, facilitating the transition to natural gas and electric vehicles, as well as the adoption of clean fuel alternatives in the logistics chain. ATGL’s subsidiary, Adani Total Energy E-Mobility Limited (ATEL), will also establish electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in coordination with warehouses and logistics facilities throughout Flipkart’s nationwide supply chain.

This strategic partnership holds significance in the endeavor to decarbonize the e-commerce logistics segment in India, which currently handles over 8 million shipments daily. With the economy’s anticipated growth, this quantity is expected to rise, emphasizing the need for well-thought-out solutions to reduce associated carbon emissions.

Major players in the Indian e-commerce sector, including Flipkart, are actively pursuing net-zero objectives, making the decarbonization of transportation crucial in attaining these ambitious goals.
