Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL), India’s foremost energy and city gas distribution company, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Flipkart, the country’s homegrown e-commerce giant. The collaboration aims to align with Flipkart’s vision of reducing the carbon footprint in the primary, secondary, and tertiary movement of goods across sourcing locations, warehouses, and customers.
Under the MoU, ATGL will collaborate with Flipkart to provide decarbonizing solutions, facilitating the transition to natural gas and electric vehicles, as well as the adoption of clean fuel alternatives in the logistics chain. ATGL’s subsidiary, Adani Total Energy E-Mobility Limited (ATEL), will also establish electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in coordination with warehouses and logistics facilities throughout Flipkart’s nationwide supply chain.
This strategic partnership holds significance in the endeavor to decarbonize the e-commerce logistics segment in India, which currently handles over 8 million shipments daily. With the economy’s anticipated growth, this quantity is expected to rise, emphasizing the need for well-thought-out solutions to reduce associated carbon emissions.
In alignment with India’s commitment to climate action goals, as demonstrated at COP 26, this collaboration contributes to efforts aimed at reducing the carbon intensity of the economy and achieving net-zero targets. Major players in the Indian e-commerce sector, including Flipkart, are actively pursuing net-zero objectives, making the decarbonization of transportation crucial in attaining these ambitious goals.

ATGL, co-promoted by the Adani Group and France’s Total Energy, remains steadfast in building India’s next-generation energy infrastructure, offering clean energy solutions across residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation sectors.

The partnership with Adani Total Gas Limited is expected to play a crucial role in supporting Flipkart’s net-zero targets and advancing its sustainability vision.

Providing gas distribution in 33 geographical areas, ATGL plays a vital role in enhancing the share of natural gas in India’s energy mix. The company’s commitment extends to various subsidiaries, including ATEL for e-mobility and ATBL for biomass businesses.
