Adani Solar Ranks Sixth Globally In Wood Mackenzie PV Module Rankings

Adani Solar, the solar manufacturing division of Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL), secured sixth position in Wood Mackenzie’s Global Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Module Manufacturer Rankings 2026.

The company emerged as the highest-ranked Indian manufacturer in the prestigious annual assessment.

The latest ranking marked an improvement from eighth place in the previous edition.

Adani Solar remained the only Indian company to feature among the global top ten manufacturers.

Wood Mackenzie evaluated 48 solar module producers on key indicators, including capacity utilisation, technological advancement, financial stability, supply-chain robustness and operational efficiency.

The research and consultancy firm awarded Adani Solar a Grade A classification for its strong performance across these parameters.

The achievement comes as India continues to strengthen domestic solar manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports.

According to industry data cited by the company, India’s solar module production capacity has expanded from less than 2.5 GW in 2014 to more than 170 GW in 2026.

Domestic solar cell manufacturing capacity has also reached 27 GW.

Chinese companies occupied the leading positions in the rankings. LONGi Green Energy topped the list, followed by Jinko Solar, JA Solar and Trinasolar.

Adani Solar is currently expanding its integrated manufacturing complex at Mundra, Gujarat, to achieve an annual capacity of 10 GW.

The company presently operates 2 GW of ingot and wafer capacity, alongside 4 GW each of solar cell and module manufacturing capacity. Its fully integrated operations span ingots, wafers, solar cells and finished modules.

The company also earned recognition as a BloombergNEF Tier-1 manufacturer during the second quarter of 2026. Independent assessments by Kiwa PVEL have consistently rated its modules among the industry’s top performers.

Chinese companies continued to lead the global solar sector. Manufacturers from India, South Korea and Singapore expanded the industry’s geographic diversity.

India surpassed the United States in annual solar capacity additions and crossed 155 GW of installed solar capacity.

The achievement, however, strengthened its clean energy goals and climate commitments.
