On Tuesday, Adani Power Limited announced the creation of a new step-down subsidiary, signalling a deeper push into the nuclear energy segment.
In a regulatory disclosure, the company said its wholly-owned arm, Adani Atomic Energy Limited, has incorporated Rawatbhata-Raj Atomic Energy Limited (RRAEL).
The entity registered on 20 April with an authorised capital of Rs 5 lakh, structured into 50,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each.
The filing clarified the ownership chain, noting that RRAEL is fully held by Adani Atomic Energy Limited, which in turn is entirely owned by Adani Power, making the new firm a step-down subsidiary within the group.
In a related move, another group company, Adani Energy, has also set up a similar subsidiary, Coastal-Maha Atomic Energy Limited. This entity will focus on generating, transmitting and distributing electricity sourced from nuclear energy.
The twin developments indicate a coordinated expansion by the Adani Group into atomic power, a sector gaining prominence in India’s long-term energy strategy.
India currently has an installed nuclear capacity of about 8.7 gigawatts.
The country aims to significantly scale this up to 100 gigawatts by 2047, aligning with broader plans to transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
