Adani Power on Tuesday announced that its subsidiary, Moxie Power Generation Ltd (MPGL), has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation (TNPDCL) to supply 558 MW (net) of power for five years.
The agreement is expected to benefit consumers in Tamil Nadu by adding 558 MW of reliable, high-quality power to the grid, enhancing stability and ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to households, businesses and industries.
Moxie Power operates a 1,200 MW (2×600 MW) thermal power plant in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. The company emerged as the lowest bidder in a competitive process by quoting a tariff of Rs 5.910 per unit. Power supply under the agreement will commence from April 1, 2026.
Adani Power, India’s largest private power producer with a generation capacity of 18.15 GW, said both units of the Tuticorin plant are now tied up under power supply agreements. More than 95 per cent of its total operating capacity is secured under medium- to long-term contracts.
“This provides significant long-term revenue visibility and also derisks the company from short-term market volatility. The company aims to achieve almost 100 per cent PPA (power purchase agreement) tie-up for all its operational and under commissioning plants over the coming years,” the company said in a statement.
By securing power at a competitive tariff, consumers are expected to benefit from more affordable and dependable energy supply in the coming years.
Adani Power has an installed thermal capacity of 18,110 MW across 12 power plants located in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu, along with a 40 MW solar plant in Gujarat.
The company reported a 5.3 per cent increase in continuing profit before tax (PBT) for Q3 FY26 at Rs 2,800 crore, compared to Rs 2,659 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, supported by lower finance costs and stable operations.
