Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) has secured the Letter of Award (LoA). The company will develop and operate two dry bulk berths at Paradip Port in Odisha.
The project will add 18 MMT, raising APSEZ’s total capacity to 671 MMTPA. The expansion supports the company’s target of achieving 1 billion tonnes of cargo throughput by 2030.
Under the 30-year concession, APSEZ will execute the project through the Public-Private Partnership model.
As the highest bidder, the company will develop CQ-I and CQ-II berths with mechanised cargo handling, deep-draft berths and storage facilities.
“The Paradip concession will strengthen APSEZ’s presence on the East Coast and expand our access to one of India’s most important industrial and mineral-rich hinterlands,” said Ashwani Gupta, Whole-time Director and CEO, APSEZ.
“With Paradip, APSEZ’s network grows to 16 ports and terminals across India’s 11,000-km coastline. This expansion strengthens its ability to deliver integrated port, logistics and marine solutions through the country’s most comprehensive transport infrastructure platform,” he added.
The new capacity addresses high utilisation across eastern ports amid rising cargo demand.
Steel expansion in the hinterland and government efforts to promote domestic coal are expected to ease regional capacity constraints.
APSEZ operates 16 ports and terminals, 136 vessels, 12 multi-modal logistics parks, 3.1 million square feet of warehouses and more than 25,000 trucks.
The company handles around 27 per cent of India’s total port volumes.
Paradip, India’s second-largest major port, serves a mineral-rich hinterland and major steel clusters.
The new terminal will support growing coal, limestone and dry bulk volumes across eastern and central India.
