Adani Group Partners With Uber For First India Data Centre

Uber is preparing to establish its first data centre in India through a partnership with Adani Group, marking a major expansion of the ride-hailing company’s technology operations in the country.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi made the announcement after meeting Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

Sharing details on X, Khosrowshahi said India was quickly becoming one of Uber’s key global innovation centres. He added that the new facility would help the company test and deploy technology at scale from India for global markets.

Soon after, Gautam Adani responded with his own message on X, praising Uber’s global performance and highlighting the growing relationship between the two companies.

Expected to become operational later this year, the proposed data centre will support Uber’s growing engineering, product development and technology activities in the country.

India has emerged as an increasingly important market for the company beyond its mobility business.

The collaboration also aligns with the Adani Group’s broader push into digital infrastructure and data centre development.

Last month, AdaniConneX, the Adani Group’s joint venture with EdgeConneX, announced plans to build a 1 GW AI-ready data centre platform in Visakhapatnam.

According to an official statement issued on April 28, the project involves an investment of nearly $10 billion and is aimed at strengthening India’s digital infrastructure ecosystem for future technology and economic growth.

AdaniConneX is developing the project as the lead infrastructure partner, with a focus on scalable and AI-ready facilities supported by an integrated energy network.
