Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), India’s foremost renewable energy company and the world’s second-largest solar PV developer, has successfully inaugurated a 551 MW solar capacity plant in Khavra, Gujarat, contributing to the national grid’s power supply.
– Approximately 81 billion units of clean electricity will be generated.
– Electricity will be made accessible to 16.1 million households.
– Over 15,200 eco-friendly jobs can be generated.
– A reduction of 58 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions is anticipated, with environmental benefits equivalent to:
– Carbon sequestration by 2,761 million trees.
– Preservation of 60,300 tonnes of coal.
– Removal of 12.6 million cars from the roads.
AGEN accomplished this remarkable feat within a mere 12-month period since commencing work on the Khavra RE Park. Beginning with infrastructure development, including roads and connectivity, the company also established a self-sustaining social ecosystem, transforming the once challenging and barren terrain of the Rann of Kutch into a habitable environment for its 8,000-strong workforce.
AGEN’s ambitious plans include the development of a 30 GW renewable energy capacity within the RE Park, slated for completion in the next five years. Upon its realization, the Khavra RE Park is expected to emerge as the world’s largest renewable energy installation.
The region’s abundant wind and solar resources make it an ideal site for large-scale renewable energy development. AGEN, leveraging its expertise in developing such projects along with robust supply chain networks and technical prowess, is poised to lead the way in constructing this unprecedented giga-scale plant, setting new standards in the global clean energy sector.
Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed his vision, stating, “Adani Green Energy is spearheading the development of one of the world’s most comprehensive renewable energy ecosystems for solar and wind. Projects like the Khavra RE Plant underscore our commitment to setting global benchmarks and redefining planning and execution standards for giga-scale renewable energy projects.”
Furthermore, this achievement aligns with India’s goals of achieving 500 GW renewable energy capacity and carbon neutrality by 2030, highlighting AGEN’s pivotal role in driving India’s clean energy transition.
